TORO YAKA

The Lodge

Toro Yaka is an exclusive, quiet lodge nestled on the outskirts of the Greater Kruger National Park, in the Balule Nature Reserve, South Africa. Our name translates to “My Dream” in Northern Sotho, and it is our goal to provide guests with a relaxed stay in the wild. This haven of peace and tranquillity was the dream of Steve and Nicole Bailie, the current owners, whose passion for nature inspired the creation of this one of a kind lodge. Together with their welcoming team, the Toro Yaka family carefully caters to the needs of guests, helping every guest create a home away from home in Africa.

Facilities

Toro Yaka has been designed with nature in mind. The lodge has no fencing, and has a minimal impact on the surrounding nature. The lodge blends into the African bush and animals of all kinds often enter the grounds. Some of our regular visitors include an adorable family of warthogs, often spotted either on our lawns or at our watering hole. Nights are filled with the sounds of nocturnal animals. As the early dawn light heralds the new day, guests awaken to the distant sounds of waking wildlife.

ACCOMMODATION
Our safari lodge has 4 spacious en-suite thatch-roofed rooms, decorated in a modern style and capable of comfortably sleeping 2. Our rooms are spacious and in staying true to the aesthetic of the lodge, the space is designed to bring you closer to nature. Rooms have enough sleeping space for two. Each room has two beds which can be transformed into a comfortable double bed. The rooms are air-conditioned and the beds have mosquito nets. As for the bathrooms, guests will have their own indoor and outdoor shower. The rooms are serviced during the day while you are on a drive. In staying true to the aesthetic of the lodge, the space is designed to bring you closer to nature.

FACILITIES

Your relaxation begins the moment you arrive at our luxury safari lodge. We’re there to welcome you as you set foot on our property and take care of your luggage while you enjoy a refreshing drink as you check into your room. Once checked in, you’ll have time to rest after your journey before indulging in one of our many activities including an afternoon game drive with sundowners to toast the setting African sun.

The main lodge is the outcome of careful planning and designed in such a way that your interaction with the surrounding nature is prioritised. Our lodge includes outdoor communal areas and a Boma where guests can sit down to a meal beneath the bright starlit night or have a refreshing breakfast. There is a warm and comfortable indoor dining area as well. We also have indoor and outdoor lounge areas in which to put your feet up. Our communal deck has a 9-meter long pool which overlooks our waterhole. During the summer, you can relax in the pool while watching the wildlife below.

We ask that you keep in mind that we are situated in a game park and we have no fences. This means that some of your fellow guests could be curious wildlife. Bush babies and owls fill the night with their cries and during the day it is not uncommon to see warthogs and other animals in the grounds around the lodge.
