KWAMBILI SAFARI LODGE
THE LODGE..
KwaMbili Game Lodge provides an authentic safari experience at an affordable price. KwaMbili is situated in the Thornybush Game Reserve near Hoedspruit, within the Greater Kruger area. The reserve is home to the Big Five as well as an abundance of other game and bird species. This means good sightings – as you will see from our Guest Reviews. KwaMbili means “Place of Two” in the local Shangaan language
FACILITIES..
The main area is unwalled and consists of a cosy bar, a breakfast/lunch area, a beautiful lounge and a small library. Our large collection of African masks is an eye-catcher and you will find safari artefacts such as books, maps, photographs and skulls. We have a small pool to cool off from the heat.
Dinner is usually served in the boma which also forms part of the central area. A boma is a round enclosure traditionally used to protect cattle from predators. Safari lodges use this concept for safe dinners under the stars, usually with roaring camp fire.
An important feature of the lodge is the hide, or observation platform. During the day you are welcome to go there and relax while looking out for animals and birds. There is a small waterhole in front of the hide and the KwaMbili dam, a little further away, is visible from the hide too.
